SHARING INFORMATION THAT MAY HELP

I got this really good information on Lemongrass and cancer.
Thought you would like to share this with everyone.
Imagine what the Lemongrass essential oil can do.
Would make a nice warm (not Hot) tea to drink and also get the benefits from it.

Fresh Lemon Grass Drink Causes Apoptosis to Cancer Cells

(apoptosis) noun: a type of cell death in which the cell uses specialized cellular machinery to kill itself; a cell suicide mechanism that enables metazoans to control cell number and eliminate cells that threaten the animal's survival.

A drink with as little as one gram of lemon grass contains enough citral to prompt cancer cells to commit suicide in the test tube.
Israeli researchers find way to make cancer cells self-destruct
-Ben Gurion University

At first, Benny Zabidov, an Israeli agriculturalist who grows greenhouses full of lush spices on a pastoral farm in Kfar Yedidya in the Sharon region, couldn't understand why so many cancer patients from around the country were showing up on his doorstep asking for fresh lemon grass. It turned out that their doctors had sent them. 'They had been told to drink eight glasses of hot water with fresh lemon grass steeped in it on the days that they went for their radiation and chemotherapy treatments,' Zabidov told ISRAEL21c. 'And this is the place you go to in Israel for fresh lemon grass.'

It all began when researchers at Ben Gurion University of the Negev discovered last year that the lemon aroma in herbs like lemon grass kills cancer cells in vitro, while leaving healthy cells unharmed. The research team was led by Dr. Rivka Ofir and Prof. Yakov Weinstein, incumbent of the Albert Katz Chair in Cell-Differentiatio n and Malignant Diseases, from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at BGU.

Citral is the key component that gives the lemony aroma and taste in several herbal plants such as lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus), melissa (Melissa officinalis) and verbena (Verbena officinalis. )

According to Ofir, the study found that citral causes cancer cells to 'commit suicide: using apoptosis, a mechanism called programmed cell death.' A drink with as little as one gram of lemon grass contains enough citral to prompt the cancer cells to commit suicide in the test tube.

The BGU investigators checked the influence of the citral on cancerous cells by adding them to both cancerous cells and normal cells that were grown in a petri dish. The quantity added in the concentrate was equivalent to the amount contained in a cup of regular tea using one gram of lemon herbs in hot water. While the citral killed the cancerous cells, the normal cells remained unharmed.

The findings were published in the scientific journal Planta Medica, which highlights research on alternative and herbal remedies. Shortly afterwards, the discovery was featured in the popular Israeli press.
Why does it work? Nobody knows for certain, but the BGU scientists have a theory. 'In each cell in our body, there is a genetic program which causes programmed cell death. When something goes wrong, the cells divide with no control and become cancer cells. In normal cells, when the cell discovers that the control system is not operating correctly - for example, when it recognizes that a cell contains faulty genetic material following cell division - it triggers cell death,' explains Weinstein. 'This research may explain the medical benefit of these herbs.'
The success of their research led them to the conclusion that herbs containing citral may be consumed as a preventative measure against certain cancerous cells. As they learned of the BGU findings in the press, many physicians in Israel began to believe that while the research certainly needed to be explored further, in the meantime it would be advisable for their patients, who were looking for any possible tool to fight their condition, to try to harness the cancer-destroying properties of citral.
That's why Zabidov's farm - the only major grower of fresh lemon grass in Israel - has become a pilgrimage destination for these patients. Luckily, they found themselves in sympathetic hands. Zabidov greets visitors with a large kettle of aromatic lemon grass tea, a plate of cookies, and a supportive attitude. 'My father died of cancer, and my wife's sister died young because of cancer,' said Zabidov.. 'So I understand what they are dealing with. And I may not know anything about medicine, but I'm a good listener. And so they tell me about their expensive painful treatments and what they've been through. I would never tell them to stop being treated, but it's great that they are exploring alternatives and drinking the lemon grass tea as well.'

Zabidov knew from a young age that agriculture was his calling. At age 14, he enrolled in the Kfar Hayarok Agricultural high school. After his army service, he joined an idealistic group which headed south, in the Arava desert region, to found a new moshav (agricultural settlement) called Tsofar. 'We were very successful; we raised fruits and vegetables, and,' he notes with a smile, 'We raised some very nice children.'
On a trip to Europe in the mid-80s, he began to become interested in herbs. Israel, at the time, was nothing like the trend-conscious cuisine-oriented country it is today, and the only spices being grown commercially were basics like parsley, dill, and coriander. Wandering in the Paris market, looking at the variety of herbs and spices, Zabidov realized that there was a great export potential in this niche. He brought samples back home with him, 'which was technically illegal,' he says with a guilty smile, to see how they would grow in his desert greenhouses. Soon, he was growing basil, oregano, tarragon, chives, sage, marjoram and melissa, and mint just to name a few.

His business began to outgrow his desert facilities, and so he decided to move north, settling in the moshav of Kfar Yedidya, an hour and a half north of Tel Aviv. He is now selling 'several hundred kilos' of lemon grass per week, and has signed with a distributor to package and put it in health food stores. Zabidov has taken it upon himself to learn more about the properties of citral, and help his customers learn more, and has invited medical experts to his farm to give lectures about how the citral works and why.

He also felt a responsibility to know what to tell his customers about its use. 'When I realized what was happening, I picked up the phone and called Dr.. Weinstein at Ben-Gurion University, because these people were asking me exactly the best way to consume the citral. He said to put the loose grass in hot water, and drink about eight glasses each day.'

Zabidov is pleased by the findings, not simply because it means business for his farm, but because it might influence his own health. Even before the news of its benefits were demonstrated, he and his family had been drinking lemon grass in hot water for years, 'just because it tastes good.'

LOOKING AT LIFE AFTER ONE YEAR OF CANCER

ME AND SARINA AT ASTRO/PNTC SPRINT TROPHY DINNER SEPT 09

ME AND THE KOREAN CHIEF STARTER AT SLTC LATEST PHOTO

ME GETTING READY FOR NEXT RACE AT PNTC LATEST PHOTO

It has been just over one year since I was diagnosed with cancer. Since then I have had surgery, chemotherapy and radiation at 2 different hospitals and a series of scans and six months of lying around on the bed after work, yes, i never stop working, staring out the window at the dapple light of days, yawning and stretching until the night creeps in. I felt suspended in a giant aquarium of a cisplatin;taxotere world and time stopped for six months. I questioned myself, my work, the world, death, and the spirit beyond. I struggled to have faith in the doctors, in the treatment, and in myself. Everyone was so sure I would be fine - I was such a 'positive' person - I would be back and at it in no time. Truth is I was scared, very scared, and all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and hide under the blanket.

But I didn't die. I live. Once treatment was over, to be exact ended on Boxing Day 26TH DEC 08 I was ushered back out in to the world with 'off you go then'. No guarantees - just the long wait between checkups to see if cancer had returned. There was no 'end' to cancer - just a finished chapter with the next one waiting to be read, with no hints at the ending.

I had a choice: live worrying whether the cancer would come back, or live expecting the cancer to be gone. No guarantees either way, but it sure felt better to expect good health than worry about sickness.

So I learned to live not knowing if the cancer would come back, but enjoying each day. I make plans anyway. I look forward to the future. And all the time I am so grateful.Firstly to Allah swt for giving me strength. Grateful to my friends, to my family, to my colleagues, to the countless of strangers who prayed for me around the world. I am grateful for the sunshine, the morning, the noon and the night. I notice small things; I savour moments like when my grandchildren grins deliciously at me with a full sparkle of joy or the guy at the market with his wry smile in his shorts and singlet winks and gives me a special deal.

In facing death I have come to love life so much, even the hard, bitter and nasty bits. When I heard news of a colleague,(my friend Teoh Kin Meng) who took his own life after a long struggle with depression, I found myself angry, sad, and confused. I struggle knowing that someone can fight so hard to live while another discards his life and all the promise of the future.

Yet I know the darkness of the big C. Chemotherapy and radiation was at times so depressing, like a coffin bearing down on me. I prayed for relief, prayed for escape, and I understood then why thoughts of death as an end to suffering come to us. Not the most beautiful sunrise, or a warm hug from a loved one can cut through this kind of pain. It is so difficult to feel joy when you are sick.

I knew my nausea would end - I had to make it through 14 days of torturing sickness that comes with each round of chemo, but I knew eventually the next 7 days, it would subside then the cycle starts all over again which i call the roller coaster ride of my life, waiting for the end of a dark tunnel and this went on over a period of 4 every 3 weeks i.e 84 torturing days after which the radiation starts and being burned 5 times a week for 7 weeks. The days where I woke up without feeling sick were so fantastic - my spirit lifted and soared in relief. For someone with cancer illness, however, there is no promise of an end to suffering.

If my colleague's death teaches us anything, it is this: life is short and precious. Don't waste another minute being miserable. Show those around you how much you love them. Look with a child's wonder and delight at the world around you. Find reasons to laugh and smile. Love yourself. Love the gift of life.

In remembering my friend Teoh, in remembering my cancer journey, I choose to live life to the fullest now. I choose to believe in anticipating of the small miracles I know will appear each day. I choose to love and to laugh.

TO MY WIFE SARINA AND ALL MY CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN,MY MUM AND IN LAW, MY FAMILY, MY DEAR BROTHER TOMMY,FAMILY IN PERTH AND TO MY BEST FRIEND DAVID MCGILLIVRAY, MR RICK LOH, ALL MY DEAR FRIENDS,MY COLLEAGUES AND MY EMPLOYERS THANK YOU FOR EVERY OUNCE OF HELP, PRAYERS AND CONFIDENCE YOU HAVE GIVEN ME DURING MY TIME OF ILLNESS.LAST BUT NOT LEAST DR LEONG KIN WAH,DATO DR ZATTAR,MY FRIEND DR LAM OF IPOH AND ALL THE NURSES THANK YOU

I WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT AND BE WELL FOR AS LONG AS I SHALL LIVE, INSYAALLAH.

USEFUL INFO MAYBE OF HELP...INSYAALLAH

Cancer, Enzymes & the Power of Papaya
By Mauris L. Emeka It has been said that cancer is the final stage in years of acting against the laws of nature, and that anyone with an unhealthy lifestyle and who eats improperly spends his whole life preparing for this dreaded disease.

What is the nature of cancer as seen from the cellular level? Dr. John Beard, a leading professor of embryology in Scotland, posed that question sometime in the 1880s. He spent the rest of his life exploring the process of cancer and discovering just what activity within the body produces malignant tumors. Dr. Beard documented his work in a publication called “The Enzyme Treatment of Cancer And Its Scientific Basis”, copyright 1911.

We have in our bodies what scientists call primitive germ cells. In laymen’s terms, these are undeveloped cells that remain after new life is first formed in a mother’s womb. They are called “primitive” because these cells never did develop into mature cells to form various parts of the body. Think of primitive germ cells as extra cells that were not needed in the formation of the fetus. These cells are therefore in each of us, and they seemingly have no function until and unless the body experiences stress or injury of any kind. At that point, the primitive cells become activated in order to help heal whatever stress or injury the body may be experiencing. And once they are activated, these primitive cells start maturing and behaving like trophoblasts cells, which are the cells that house the fetus in an expectant mother. Dr. Beard found that these activated cells continue their growth and development until enough protein digesting enzymes are brought to bear. When there is a sufficient amount of protein digesting enzymes in the body the growth of activated cells ceases. The organ known as the pancreas produces these enzymes, but if it fails to produce enough of them then the activated primitive cells will continue their trophoblasts-like growth eventually producing a cancerous tumor. So whenever healing is initiated by primitive germ cells it is vital that the body have enough protein digesting enzymes to halt the healing process once it has reached a certain point. Dr. Beard’s most important discovery was that if there are not enough of certain enzymes in the body then the growth of activated primitive germ cells will proceed unchecked and lead to the formation of a cancerous tumor. Indeed, the present day enzyme treatment of cancer is based largely on this important discovery

In a real sense, protein digesting enzymes are our first line of defence against cancer. That is why it is so important that we nourish the body in a way that introduces protein digesting enzymes into it everyday. Otherwise, we must depend on the limited capability of our pancreas to produce such enzymes. All too often our pancreas is not capable of supplying enough digestive enzymes to digest the preponderance of cooked food that we consume daily. [Note: when food is cooked it kills the enzymes and when we eat those foods it becomes the job of our pancreas to supply enzymes to digest them; but the pancreas is limited in this regard].

When someone has cancer, no matter where the malignant tumor shows up, it is vital that they consume foods whose enzymes have not been killed. That means eating an abundance of raw fruits, vegetables and nuts. Dr. Beard and other researchers have discovered that enzymes that digest protein play a key role in halting the growth of cancer cells. It’s no wonder that virtually every alternative cancer treatment program encourages patients to stop eating animal products and to eat more raw enzyme-rich fruits and vegetables. When someone has cancer, if they continue eating a daily diet of animal products (meat, chicken, fish, dairy, etc.), these hard to digest foods greatly challenge an already overworked pancreas. Cancer, no matter where it shows up, is a sure sign that the pancreas is not producing adequate enzymes. In addition, eating animal products makes the body chemistry considerably more acidic, and cancer cells thrive in an acidic environment. And, as mentioned earlier, a lack of protein digesting enzymes allows out of control primitive germ cells to become cancerous. In that sense, we can think of cancer, any cancer, as an enzyme deficiency disease.

The good news is that we can each do something about this situation. We can change what we eat and eat more foods that introduce enzymes into the body, as opposed to mainly cooked foods that require the body to manufacture critically needed enzymes. One such food that is especially helpful in this regard is the papaya and papaya seeds; another is pineapple. Both fruits contain enzymes (papain and bromelain, respectively) that are similar to the protein digesting enzymes made by the pancreas. Another extremely beneficial food is sprouts (bean sprouts, broccoli sprouts). They are a rich source of beneficial enzymes and other nutrients that are known to suppress cancerous activity. Protein digesting enzymes are particularly important in that they can dissolve the protein coating that forms around all cancer cells, and this enables the immune system to finally ‘see’ the cancer cells and target them for destruction. These foods also make the body chemistry less acidic and thus a lot less conducive for cancerous activity. (See Barbara Simonsohn’s book, “Healing Power of Papaya”, copyright 2000).

Grant it, protein digesting enzymes may not be the only answer to cancer, but truly they are the body’s first defense against this most dreaded disease.. If I ever though I had cancer, aside from abstaining from animal protein, sugar, refined grains, and processed foods, I would be sure to eat at least a half of a papaya and a generous portions of its seeds daily in order to strengthen my body’s first line of defence.

USEFUL INFO ABOUT H1N1

PLEASE READ AND HOPEFULLY IT HELPS....INSYAALLAH Sensible Advice About H1N1!

How to prevent H1N1

Hi Friends, RECIEVED THIS INFO AND FIND IT VERY USEFUL

Thanks to media hype about H1N1, several people who trust me have either approached or called me to advice. The hype in media about the utility of face masks and N95 respirators as a tool for general protection against H1N1 can't be deplored enough.

Yesterday, a friend who listened wanted me to write down briefly what I advised so that he could tell others in similar words. Hence this short email to friends whom I have advised recently (and others whom I haven't yet).

Please realize that this is not an official advice, especially the one about face masks or N95. Most N95 respirators are designed to filter 95% particulates of 0.3µ, while the size of H1N1 virus is about 0.1µ. Hence, dependence on N95 to protect against H1N1 is like protecting against rain with an umbrella made of mosquito net.

Tamiflu does not kill but prevents H1N1 from further proliferation till the virus limits itself in about 1-2 weeks (its natural cycle). H1N1, like other Influenza A viruses, only infects the upper respiratory tract and proliferates (only) there. The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/ throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible not coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions.

Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps - not fully highlighted in most official communications - can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat or bathe).

3. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.

5. Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. Drink as much of warm liquids as you can. Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.
7. All these are simple ways to prevent, within means of most households, and certainly much less painful than to wait in long queues outside public hospitals.

Happy breathing!

The top five cancer-causing foods are:

1. Hot dogs
Because they are high in nitrates, the Cancer Prevention Coalition advises that children eat no more than 12 hot dogs a month. If you can't live without hot dogs, buy those made without sodium nitrate.

2. Processed meats and bacon
Also high in the same sodium nitrates found in hot dogs, bacon, and other processed meats raise the risk of heart disease. The saturated fat in bacon also contributes to cancer.

3. Doughnuts
Doughnuts are cancer-causing double trouble. First, they are made with white flour, sugar, and hydrogenated oils, then fried at high temperatures. Doughnuts, says Adams , may be the worst food you can possibly eat to raise your risk of cancer.

4. French fries
Like doughnuts, French fries are made with hydrogenated oils and then fried at high temperatures. They also contain cancer- causing acryl amides which occur during the frying process. They should be called cancer fries, not French fries, said Adams .

5. Chips, crackers, and cookies
All are usually made with white flour and sugar. Even the ones whose labels claim to be free of trans-fats generally contain small amounts of trans-fats.

BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS

1. No Breakfast
People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level.
This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.

2. Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.

3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.

4. High Sugar consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.

5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency..

6. Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.
7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.

8. Working your brain during illness
Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.

9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.

10. Talking Rarely
Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain

------------ --------- --------- ------------ --------- --------- ------------ --------- --------- -

The main causes of liver damage are:

1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are main cause.
2. Not urinating in the morning.
3. Too much eating.
4. Skipping breakfast.
5. Consuming too much medication.
6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener.
7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is very fit.
8.. Consuming raw (overly done) foods also add to the burden of liver.
Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.

We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to 'schedule.'

THE NEED TO GO VEGETERIAN INFO

Vegetarianism is the fastest growing trend in the developed world. Here are 21 reasons why you should think about turning green too.
Avoiding meat is one of the best and simplest ways to cut down your fat consumption. Modern farm animals are deliberately fattened up to increase profits. Eating fatty meat increases your chances of having a heart attack or developing cancer.

Every minute of every working day, thousands of animals are killed in slaughter-houses. Pain and misery are common. In the US alone, 500,000 animals are killed for meat every hour.

There are millions of cases of food poisoning recorded every year. The vast majority are caused by eating meat.

Meat contains absolutely nothing - no proteins, vitamins or minerals - that the human body cannot obtain perfectly happily from a vegetarian diet.

African countries - where millions are starving to death - export grain to the developed world so that animals can be fattened for our dining tables.

'Meat' can include the tail, head, feet, rectum and spinal cord of an animal.

A sausage can contain ground up intestines. How can anyone be sure that the intestines are empty when they are ground up? Do you really want to eat the content of a pig's intestines?

If we eat the plants we grow instead of feeding them to animals, the world's food shortage will disappear virtually overnight. Remember that 100 acres of land will produce enough beef for 20 people but enough wheat to feed 240 people.

Every day, tens of millions of one-day-old male chicks are killed because they will not be able to lay eggs. There are no rules about how this mass slaughter takes place. Some are crushed or suffocated to death. Many are used for fertiliser or fed to other animals.

Animals who die for your dinner table die alone, in terror, in sadness and in pain. The killing is merciless and inhumane.

It's must easier to become (and stay) slim if you are a vegetarian. (By 'slim', I do not mean 'abnormally slender' or 'underweight' but rather, an absense of excess weight!)

Half the rainforests in the world have been destroyed to clear ground to graze cattle to make beefburgers. The burning of the forests contributes 20% of all green-house gases. Roughtly 1,000 species a year become extinct because of the destruction of the rainforests. Approximately 60 million people a year die of starvation. All those lives could be saved because those people could eat grain used to fatten cattle and other farm animals - if Americans ate 10% less meat.

The world's fresh water shortage is being made worse by animal farming. And meat producers are the biggest polluters of water. It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of meat. If the US meat industry wasn't supported by the taxpayer paying a large proportion of its water costs, then hamburger meat would cost $35 a pound.

If you eat meat, you are consuming hormones that were fed to the animals. No one knows what effect those hormones will have on your health. In some parts of the world, as many as one on four hamburgers contain growth hormones that were originally given to cattle.

The following diseases are commoner among meat eaters: anaemia, appendicitis, arthritis, breast cancer, cancer of the colon, cancer of the prostrate, constipation, diabetes, gallstones, gout, high blood pressure, indigestion, obesity, piles, strokes and varicose veins. Lifelong vegetarians visit hospital 22% less often than meat eaters and for shorter stays. Vegetarians have a 20% lower blood cholestrol level than meat eaters and this reduces heart attack and cancer risks considerably.

Some farmers use tranquillisers to keep animals calm. Other routinely use antibiotics to starve off infection. When you eat meat you are eating those drugs. In America , 55% of all antibiotics are fed to animals and the percentage of staphylococci infections resistant to penicillin went up from 14% in 1960 to 91% in 1988.

In a lifetime, the average meat eater will consumer 36 pigs, 36 sheep and 750 chickens and turkeys. Do you want that much carnage on your conscience?

Animals suffer from pain and fear just as much as you do. How would you like to spend your last hours locked in a truck, packed into a cage with hundreds of other terrified animal and then cruelly pushed into a blood soaked death chamber. Anyone who eats meat condones and supports the way animals are treated.

Animals which are a year old are often far more rational - and capable of logical thought - than six week old babies. Pigs and sheep are far more intelligent than small children. Eating dead animals is barbaric.

Vegetarians are fitter than meat eaters. many of the world's most successful athletes are vegetarian.

INFO ABT VITAMINS AND MINERAL TO SHARE

A GOOD INFO FOR ALL TO SHARE.
VITAMINS AND MINERALS
Vitamins:

Vitamin A: Vitamin A aids in the growth and repair of body
tissues, which helps maintain smooth, soft, disease-free skin.
Internally, it helps protect the mucous membranes of the nose,
sinuses, lungs, eyelids, mouth, throat, stomach, intestines (digestive tract), vagina and uterus, thereby reducing susceptibility to infection.
This protection also aids the mucous membranes in combating the effects of invasive microorganisms and other harmful particles, including air pollutants. The soft tissues of the kidneys and bladder are also protected. Vitamin A also prompts the secretion of gastric juices necessary for proper digestion of proteins. Other important functions of Vitamin A include the building of strong bones and teeth, the formation of rich blood, reproduction, cell membrane stability and development, immunity and the maintenance of good eyesight. Research shows that beta-carotene helps defend the body against some types of cancer.

Vitamin B Complex:
The eight B Vitamins function in many different ways
to help enzymes carry out thousands of molecular
conversions in the body and are therefore known as coenzymes.
All B vitamins are water-soluble substances that can be cultivated from bacteria, yeasts, fungi or molds. The known B-Complex Vitamins are B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin) , B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine, pyridoxal, pyridoxmine) , B12 (cobalamin), biotin and folic acid (folate, folacin, pteroylglutamin) . The grouping of these compounds, under the term B complex is based upon their common source distribution, their close relationship in vegetables and animal tissues and their functional relationships. The B-Complex Vitamins provide the body with energy by aiding in the conversion of carbohydrates to glucose, which the body "burns" to produce energy. They are also vital in the metabolism of fats and protein. In addition, the B Vitamins are necessary for normal functioning of the nervous system and may be its single most important factor for maintenance of the nerves. B Vitamins are essential for maintenance of muscle tone in the gastrointestinal tract and for the health of skin, hair, eyes, mouth and liver.

Vitamin C Complex:
A primary function of Vitamin C is maintaining
collagen, a protein necessary for the formation of
connective tissue in skin, ligaments and bones. Vitamin C plays a role in healing wounds and burns because it facilitates the formation of connective tissue in the scar. Cells in the arterial walls need collagen to help them expand and contract with the beats of the heart; it is also needed in the capillaries, which are more fragile. Another major role of Vitamin C is as an antioxidant. Vitamin C also aids in forming red blood cells and preventing hemorrhaging. It has been found that Vitamin C acts as an antihistamine and may be used to reduce the use of the drug form.

Vitamin D:
Vitamin D can be acquired either by ingestion or by exposure
to sunlight. The previtamin form is known as the "sunshine" vitamin.
The provitamin form is found in plant and animal tissue. A
unique aspect of Vitamin D is that it functions very much like a hormone and has been referred to as one, as it targets organs like the kidneys and intestines. Other target tissues are the brain, pancreas, skin, bones, reproductive organs and some cancer cells.

Vitamin E:
Vitamin E is composed of a group of compound
called tocopherols. four forms of tocopherol exists in nature
including alpha, beta, delta, and gamma. Vitamin E is necessary for all forms of oxygen-consuming life forms. It is also an antioxidant,
which means it opposes oxidation of substances in the body. The B and C Complex are also protected against oxidation when Vitamin E is present in the digestive tract. It has the ability to unite with oxygen
and prevent it from being converted into toxic peroxides. This leaves the red blood cells fully supplied with the pure oxygen that the blood
carries to the heart and other organs. Vitamin E is not only an
antioxidant, it plays an essential role in cellular respiration of all muscles, especially cardiac and skeletal. Vitamin E makes it possible for these muscles and their nerves to function with less oxygen, thereby increasing their endurance and stamina. It also causes dilation of the blood vessels, permitting a fuller flow of blood to the heart. Vitamin E is a highly effective anti-thrombin in the bloodstream, inhibiting coagulation of blood by preventing clots from forming. Vitamin E stimulates urine excretion, which helps heart patients whose body tissues contain an excessive amount of tissue fluid (edema). As a diuretic, Vitamin E helps lower elevated blood pressure. It protects against the damaging effects of many environmental poisons in the air, water and food,
and it protects the lungs and other tissues from damage by polluted air.

Minerals:

Calcium: Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body
and the fifth most abundant substance. About 99% is deposited in the
bones and teeth. The remaining 1% is involved in the soft tissues,
intracellular fluids and blood. The major function of Calcium is to act in cooperation with phosphorus to build and maintain bones and teeth. Another important function is the storage of the mineral in the bones for use by the body. The Calcium state of the bones is constantly fluctuating according to the diet and to the body's needs. The 1% of ionized Calcium that circulates in the fluids of the body is small, but vital, to life. It is essential for healthy blood and eases insomnia and its delicate messenger ions help regulate the heartbeat. Along with Calcium, magnesium is needed to properly maintain the cardiovascular system. In addition, Calcium assists in the process of blood clotting and helps prevent the accumulation of too much acid or too much alkali in the blood. It also plays a part in secretion of hormones. It affects neurotransmitters (serotonin, acetylcholine andnorepinephrine), nerve transmission, muscle growth and muscle contraction. The mineral acts as a messenger from the cell surface to the inside of the cell and helps regulate the passage of nutrients in and out of the cell walls.

Calcium may be beneficial for the following ailments:
Anemia, Diabetes, Hemophilia, Pernicious anemia, Backache, Fracture, Osteomalacia, Osteoporosis, Rickets, Colitis, Diarrhea, Dizziness, Epilepsy, Finger tremors, Insomnia, Irritability, Mental illness, Nervousness, Parkinson's Disease, Meniere's Syndrome, Cataracts, Headache, Arteriosclerosis, Atherosclerosis, Hypertension, High LDL levels, Cancer of the large intestine, Celiac Disease, Constipation, Hemorrhoids, Worms, Arthritis, Rheumatism, Nephritis, Muscle cramps, Allergies, Common cold, Tuberculosis, Tetany, Nail problems, Acne, Bee and Spider bites, Sunburn, Stomach ulcers, Brittle teeth, Cavities, Pyorrhea, Tooth and Gum disorders, Aging Fever, Overweight, Obesity, and Toxicity.

Magnesium: Magnesium is an essential mineral that accounts
for about 0.05% of the body's total weight. Magnesium is involved
in many essential metabolic processes. Most is found inside the
cell, where it activates enzymes necessary for the metabolism of
carbohydrates and amino acids. By countering the stimulative effect of calcium, magnesium plays an important role in neuromuscular contractions. It also helps regulate the acid-alkaline balance in the body. Magnesium helps promote absorption and metabolism of other minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, sodium and potassium. It also helps utilize the B Complex and Vitamins C and E in the body. It aids during bone growth and is necessary for proper functioning of the muscles including those of the heart.

Magnesium may be beneficial for the following ailments:
Arteriosclerosis, Atherosclerois, High cholesterol level,
Diabetes, Hypertension, High LDL cholesterol, Fracture, Osteoporosis, Rickets, Colitis, Diarrhea, Depression, Epilepsy, Mental illness, Multiple Sclerosis, Nervousness, Neuritis, Neuromuscular Disorders, Noise Sensitivity, Parkinson's Disease, Tantrums, Hand Tremors, Coronary thrombosis, Ischemic heart disease, Celiac Disease, Arthritis, Kidney Stones, Oxalate stones, Leg cramps, Muscle weakness, Muscular excitability, Neuromuscular disorders, Weakness, Psoriasis, Decay, Vomiting, Alcoholism, Backache, Convulsions, Delirium, Epilepsy, Kwashiorkor, Overweight, Obesity, PMS, and Polio.

Phosphorus: Phosphorus is the second most abundant mineral
in the body and is found in every cell. The balance of calcium and
phosphorus is needed for them to be effectively used by the body.
Phosphorus plays a part in almost every chemical reaction within the body because it is present in every cell. It is important in the utilization of carbohydrates, fats and protein for growth, maintenance and repair an mediation, both within and without the cells, and for the production of energy. It stimulates muscle contractions, including the regular contractions of the heart muscle. Niacin and riboflavin cannot be digested unless phosphorus is present. Phosphorus is an essential part of nucleoproteins, which are responsible for cell division and reproduction. Phosphorus helps prevent the accumulation of too much acid or too much alkali in the blood, assist in the passage of substances through the cell walls and promote the secretion of glandular hormones. It's also needed for healthy nerves and efficient mental activity. B-Complex Vitamins and many enzymes require phosphorus to function.

Phosphorus may be beneficial for the following ailments:
Fractures, Osteomalacia, Osteoporosis, Rickets, Stunted growth,
Colitis, Mental illness, Mental stress, Arteriosclerosis, Atherosclerosis,
Arthritis, Stone arthritic conditions, Leg cramps, Tooth and gum
disorders, Alcoholism, Backache, Cancer prevention, Pregnancy and
Stress.

Potassium: Potassium is an essential mineral found mainly
in the intracellular fluid (98%), where it is the primary positive
ion force. Potassium constitutes 5% of the total mineral content of
the body. Potassium and sodium help regulate water balance within the body, that is, they help regulate the distribution of fluids on either
side of the cell walls and preserve proper alkalinity of the body
fluids. Potassium also regulates the transfer of nutrients to the cells.
Potassium unites with phosphorus to send oxygen to the brain and also functions with calcium in the regulation of neuromuscular activity. The synthesis of muscle protein and protein from the amino acids in the blood requires potassium. Protein and carbohydrate metabolism are dependent upon potassium. It stimulates the kidneys to eliminate poisonous body wastes. Potassium works with sodium to help normalize the heartbeat.
Potassium may be beneficial for the following ailments:
Angina, Pectoris, Diabetes, Hypertension, Hypoglycemia,
Hypoglycemia, Mononucleosis, Stroke, Fracture, Colitis, Diarrhea,
Alcoholism, Insomnia, Poor reflexes, Polio, Fever, Headache, Congestive heart failure, Myocardial infarction, Constipation, Worms,
Arthritis, Gout, Allergies, Impaired muscle activity, Muscular Dystrophy, Rheumatism, Sterility, Acne, Burns, Dermatitis, Colic Gastroenteritis, Tooth and Gum disorders, Cancer, Impaired growth and Stress.

Trace Minerals:

Boron: Reduces Calcium loss from bones.

Cesium: Enters cancel cells and produces alkaline
condition, causing cancer cells to die.

Chloride: Is an essential mineral occurring in the body
mainly in compound form with sodium or potassium.

Chromium: This mineral is now being recognized as important
in carbohydrate metabolism. Organic chromium is an active
ingredient of a substance called GTF (glucose tolerance factor); niacin and amino acids complete the formula. Chromium stimulates the activity of enzymes involved in the metabolism of glucose for energy and the synthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol. It appears to increase the effectiveness of insulin and its ability to handle glucose, preventing hypoglycemia or diabetes.

Cobalt: Is an essential mineral and is an integral part of
Vitamin B12. Cobalt acts as a substitute for manganese in activating a number of enzymes in the body. It replaces zinc in some enzymes and activates others as well. It is necessary for normal functioning and maintenance of red blood cells, as well as all other body cells. It is present in ocean and sea vegetation, but is lacking in almost all land grown, green foods.

Copper: Is found in all body tissues. During growth, the
largest concentrations occur in the developing tissues. It is also
one of the most important blood antioxidants and prevents the
rancidity of polyunsaturated fatty acids and helps the cell membranes remain healthy.

Fluorine: In its active form, fluoride, it is present in the soil,
water, plants and all animal tissue. Minute amounts are
found in nearly every human tissue, especially in the skeleton and teeth.

Gallium: May reduce brain cancers.

Germanium: Highly efficient electrical initiator; aids in
oxygen utilization; enhances immune system function.

Gold: May reduce active joint inflammation.

Iodine: Is a trace mineral, most of which is converted into
iodide in the body. It aids in the development and functioning of the
thyroid gland and is an integral part of the thyroxine, a principal
hormone produced by the thyroid gland. Iodine plays an important
role in regulating the body's production of energy, promotes
growth and development and stimulates the rate of metabolism, helping the body burn excess fat. Mentality, speech and the condition of hair, nails, skin and teeth are dependent upon a well functioning thyroid gland.

Iron: Is a mineral concentrate in the blood, which ispresent in every
living cell. It is the mineral that is found in the largest amounts in
the blood. It is involved in respiration by being the main carrier
vehicle for getting oxygen to all the cells in the body. It is essential
to the oxidation of fatty acids.

Lanthanum: May reduce chronic fatigue diseases.

Lithium: Plays a key role in eliminating clinical depression.

Manganese: Plays an important role, as an antioxidant, in
the prevention of toxic oxygen forms. It may play a part in the
degenerative process called aging. It also plays a role in activating numerous enzymes that are necessary for utilization of choline, biotin, thiamine and Vitamin C complex. It is a catalyst in the synthesis of fatty acids, cholesterol and mucopolysaccharides .

Molybdenum: It is found in practically all plant and animal
tissues, but very scarcely in the earth itself. The final stages of
making urine are aided by molybdenum, which also helps promote
normal cell function.

Nickel: Is an essential trace mineral found in the body.
Human and animal tests show that nickel may be a factor in hormone, lipid and membrane metabolism and cell membrane integrity.
Significant amounts are found in DNA and RNA and nickel may act as a stabilizer of these nucleic acids.

Selenium: Is an essential mineral found in minute amounts
in the body. It is one of the essential body substances that can be used in a preventive manner for many diseases, including cancer,
arteriosclerosis, stroke, cirrhosis, arthritis and emphysema. Selenium
functions either alone or with enzymes. It is a natural antioxidant that protects against free radicals and appears to preserve elasticity of tissue that becomes less elastic with aging. All diseases that are associated with aging are affected by the workings of Selenium.

Silicon: Present in the tissues of skin, fingernails, bones, lungs,
trachea, lymph nodes, tendons and aorta. The lungs have
highest concentration because of their exposure to the air.

Silver: Kills over 650 disease causing organisms; systemic
disinfectant and immune support; subdues inflammation and promotes healing; anti-bacterial; anti-viral; anti-fungal.

Sodium: Is an essential mineral that is found in every cell
in the body, but predominantly in the extracellular fluids, the vascular fluids (blood pH) within the blood vessels, arteries, veins and capillaries, and the intestinal fluids surrounding the cells. It
functions with Potassium to equalize the acid-alkali factor in the blood.

Along with potassium, it helps regulate water balance within the body and it helps regulate the distribution of fluids on either side of thecell walls.

Strontium: Can replace Calcium in many organisms including man;
essential trace element.

Sulfur: Important mineral used in several amino acids with the body;
involved in functions of hemoglobin, insulin hormone, adrenal hormones, enzymes and antibodies.

Tin: Animal studies show deficiencies cause poor growth and
poor feeding, hearing loss and male pattern baldness. May have
cancer prevention properties.

Vanadium: Aids in glucose (blood sugar) oxidation and
transport. Enhances insulin effectiveness (aids with blood sugar problems), decreases cholesterol production, increases effectiveness of heart muscle contraction, and has Anti-Cancer properties.

Zinc: Is an essential trace mineral occurring in the body
in larger amounts than any other trace element except iron. It is
present in all tissues. Zinc is known for its ability to fight disease and
to protect the immune system. It is involved in the Krebs cycle and
energy production. More recently, blindness in the elderly has been found to be arrested by zinc. It is also credited with increasing male sex drive and potency because of its ability to regulate testosterone inthe prostate.

Currently there are no known functions in the human body utilizing these minerals:
Barium, Bismuth, Bromine, Cadmium, Cerium,
Indium, Iridium, Niobium, Osmium, Palladium, Platinum, Rhodium, Rubidium, Tellurium, Titanium, Tungsten, Uranium, Zirconium.

HOPE THE INFO WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THE VITAMINS AND MINERALS IN YOUR BODY...INSYAALLAH..

SELAMAT BERPUASA/ KEHIDUPAN

Malah, kronologi peristiwa hijrah baginda seharusnya dijadikan iktibar, bagaimana kesabaran baginda berjaya membina kegemilangan negara Islam.
